Who could go without Vacation?

Dear Journal,
This week was the best week of my life....we:
  • Went to Hainan
  • Went to the beach
  • Went to the pool
  • Went to breakfast buffets
  • Went to Vietnamese dinner
  • Went to Hong Kong
  • Went site-seeing for first 2 days
  • Went to a movie called The Day the Earth Stood Still on the 3rd day 
  • Went to Shanghai/home
  • Went to club house to get Hanukkah presents that were mailed by my Bubbie and Zaydie
  • Got cool gifts from my family in Boston!!
Can you believe all 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11 things happened in 1,2,4,5,6,7 days! It was so exciting when in happened but it felt so short that I couldn't take it all in; especially in Hong Kong because we were only there 2 and a half days. 

But anyways, my vacation was good. Do any of you have vacation during December? Last year we had 3 and a half weeks off but this year we only have 2 weeks off! But in the middle of January we have Chinese New Year vacation for a week.....that's when we came to Boston last year but don't think we will be coming at that time this year. So it's not that bad. 

I know it's past Christmas and Hanukkah, but Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone!

Dear Journal,

I snuck away from bed at 9:00pm so I could write; I was soo tempted.

3 Things that happened in the past 3 minutes:

  • My dad came home from work (late, huh?)
  • I ran to my computer to write to you
  • My mom put me to bed (remember, theses aren't in order)

By the way, wo shui jiao le means I am sleeping in Chinese. Whoever guessed that, dingdingdingding!

Hi fellow blog-checkers.......

Ni Hao!

I didn't enter with 'Dear Journal' this time because I have somethings really bad to tell you this time.

Bad things happening right now and during today:

  1. I had to run the mile today (4 laps around our huge track) (P.S. It took me 14 minutes to run 1 mile at school).
  2. I had nutella (chocolate spread) on a gramcracker and all I get is a bump on my lip maybe saying that I am alergic to one of them and a ice pack on my big old bump.

Good things that happened right now and during the day:

  1. Everybody in both 5AH (other class), 5KC (my class), and Hannah, my best 5TM friend, were cheering me on while I run pass the finish line by myself because I am the last one to finish running (I was expecting teasing because I am soo unfit (unlike everybody else) and people yelling at me for making them wait 2 minutes so I could finish running).
  2. It is time for dinner! And my mom made my favorite, Pasta and Tomato Sauce!

Well, now it is dinner and I thing they are starting without me!

Stay my friend

Dear Journal,
Sorry I didn't write for along time but are you still my friend? I hope so!

5 Things that I did this weekend:

  1. I went to Caroline's house for a play date.
  2. I went out to lunch to a place called Wagas.
  3. I went to a Halloween party with Jacob.
  4. I got a new music video on iTunes.
  5. I tried 5 new foods in 1 minute.

5 Things I did at Caroline's house:

  1. We made a mattress slide on the stairs.
  2. I watched Nickelodeon for the first time in 16 months.
  3. I ate Kraft mac + cheese for lunch.
  4. Hannah and Anna came over.
  5. We video taped each other dancing.

What am I doing?

I am listening to High School Musical 3 music and writing on my blog.

Something I am really happy about:

I got the part of the mayor in the play Rats!

( I wanted the part of Pennywinkle, but Caroline got that part. Hannah got the part of the Pied Piper!)

Hi Again! Quickly I want to say......

Dear Journal,

Hi again! I just got back 15 minutes ago from Italian Night (yumyum!) and I finished my Landforms homework (can you believe I have homework during IOWA week?), so I ran to the computer and logged on.

Something about my day (quickly).......

  1. I had IOWA's
  2. I had P.E.
  3. I had a mexican lunch
  4. I came home on the bus without my sweater accidentally
  5. I went to Hebrew School with Jack and the gang
  6. I came home listening to my iPod
  7. I had an Italian dinner at Raquets
  8. I came home talking to my mom about the old 'Streak' song (I had the 1970's for my Social Studies project).
  9. I did my Landforms homework, making a birds-eye view sketch of my bedroom
  10. I came to the computer to type on my blog
  11. I heard my brother screaming about my dad not coming to help him with burning a disk on his computer.
  12. I keep typping....and typping.....and STOP!

Well, that was basicly my day, and thats how my Wednesday's usually are when I have Hebrew School.

I have to read. It is almost 9:00. I have to get rest for the last day of IOWA's (not!).

TEST!!!

Dear Journal,

This entry is dedicated to my teacher Ms Campbell because it is all about ME DISLIKING AND LIKING THE IOWA TESTING!!!

#1 Thing I don't like about the IOWA is.....

It is soo quite and I am a LOUD person! I can't take it!!

#2 Thing I don't like about the IOWA is.....

It is soo frustrating and you are soo nervous, even know that the results are not going on your report card, which I am getting on Halloween!!

#3 Thing I don't like about the IOWA is.....

Sooo long! And short! For spelling, capatilization, and punctuation, you only get 12 minutes for the test! Reading Comprehension is 2 parts and each for 25 minutes! Some tests feel like a century and some tests feel like 30 seconds!

#1 Thing I like about the IOWA is.....

It doesn't go on your report card!! YEAH!!

#2 Thing I like about the IOWA is.....

You can read when your done! I LOVE READING!!

#3 Thing I like about the IOWA is.....

NO HOMEWORK THE WHOLE WEEK!!!!

Well, only 2 more days of this disliking and liking thing about I..O..W..A..'s. Plus tomorrow I start LAnd forms with Ms. Kyle. She is a new SAS teacher.

How Can I Explain This....

Dear Journal,

How can I explain this....I have been sooo busy with school and everything that....I don't want to say I have no time for you but...I am not gonna right as much as I did the first day. I haven't writen in like a few months or something like that.

Something about my day....

1. I lost a tooth and it looks really weird.
2. I started the IOWA test, like ERB's.
3. I did my science presentation.
4. I almost finished a puzzle of mickey and minie at a wedding in China.
5. I did my math homework.
6. I played computer games.
7. I am writing on my blog.


Something about my annoying brother....

He is weird.
He is mean.
He is a trouble-maker.
He is a liar.
He is un-fashionable.
He is very bad at singing.
He is freaky.
He is baby-ish.
He is a wanter of everything.
He is a want-to-be-winner.
HE IS MY BROTHER!!!
(BOO!)


What else........

I barely see my dad because he is busy at work and having dinner with his visiting co-workers and his boss. My mom has been very busy prepairing for the International Fair, which was last Saturday and AWSOME!!! Good job mom!! My friends are great also. Caroline and Hannah are my best friends in Shanghai, but I also have alot of other friends. Here all of my friends (not in order):

First Day of School! First Day of School!

Dear Journal,

Last Thursday was my first day of school. I had a great first day leading up to my moms favorite part of the day, 'telling' her about school. But I've had a resonable amount of homework and lots of fun games!

My teachers name is Ms. Campbell, from Boston, Mass. She lived in Spain for a while and started teaching 5th grade in year 2000. She is a great teacher that has a funny personality and puts hard things in easy ways. As always, a teacher should be just like that but she puts in a 11 out of 10 when she does her teaching!

As well as all my other teachers I've had since I was 5, I would like to thank them all for helping me get to this point ( Miss. Farber, Ms. Chapple, Ms. Flannery, Ms. Solomon, Ms. Sealey).

Finally! I write!

Dear Journal,

Ihave had an AMAZING summer in Boston and LA. I am gonna miss my hometowns for a long time. But one thing that might get me going is school. I start one week from this Thursday! Isn't that crazy? I am really happy though because I am going into 5th grade and I'm finally gonna see my friends!

No bike on a day like this just means good luck...

Dear Journal,

I am happy and sad at the same time today. Which part of the story would you like to hear first, the good part or bad? Well, I'll just tell you about the good part first to make everybody cheer up!

Tomorrow at about 2:00 pm, Shanghai time, my grandma and grandpa, AKA my bubbie and zaydie, are going to arrive in the Pudong Airport of Shanghai! They are coming to visit for the first time in the Davoudgolehs Shanghai History! Lets hope they have a huge smile on their way back to Boston in two and a half weeks! We have lots of fun and exciting things planned soon!

You see, sometimes there is a bad part of the story; and unfortunately there is one this time. Last week on my way back from across the street from swimming class with a friend of mine, I was coming in through the garage. I was looking around for my bike and I didn't see it. The next day I told my mom and she comes to look in the garage with me. We both did not see it. We finally figured out that my bike was...stolen. I was so angry and upset. And note that this was all happening while our guests from Xi'an where visiting. That day my mom and Aydens mom where going to the flower market to buy somethings; and during that time, I sat in my bathroom, crying. Eventually, I came out with a little bit of help from Gavi, Aydens sister, I tried to cheer up. Today, my dad was supposed to bring me to Decathlon to buy a new bike, but my mom told me that after he brings Jacob to baseball he had to go to work untill 6:00 pm. I have been sad ever since my mom told me that because it has been a week or more since I have seen my bike. Whenever somebody with a bike goes by, I always am sad because I remember my original bike from when we moved here.

Anyways, I have news from an email I got from a Rashi teacher who has moved on to Florida. Ms. Bergmann is engaged! She sent me a couple pic's by email and I sent them to a couple people. She said her boy friend proposed during Passover, after the 4 questions. Well this year there was 5 questions!

Congrats Ms. Bergmann! From all of us at the Rashi School!

No Bread and No TV!!

Dear Journal,
I am having a exception for TV Turn-off week in my school to write on my blog. And to check my email, but that's a different story.
This week is TV Turn-off week in my school. It is when you take your mind off video games and TV and do other things.
My counselor, Mr. Everett, talked about health the last couple of weeks. He talked about physical health (exercises, keep clean...) and mental health (handling stress, look on the positive side...). So he said if you sit around and watch TV all day, then you don't have time to do other activities during the day. Like play with friends or visit family.
So he got this idea from 2 places: one, he got it from the real day in the US. Second, he got the idea from a Bernstein Bears book about watching too much TV.
The book is about how brother and sister always watched TV when they got off the school bus and mama got really frustrated about it. So she made a week of not watching TV and video games. And by the time the week was over, the kids barely watched TV from then on.
What a good lesson for all of us! I have to get to bed and soon because I have school in the morning and I need to wake up at 6:30 to get ready!
Our guests left today and I am really upset with my mom for letting them take one of my books with them. :(

BLAAAAAAH!

Dear Journal,

Today was blaah. We didn't do much. We went to Chabad to pick up somethings for Passover and we went to get some pictures framed. I had a bit of a head-ache so I didn't get involved with everything. But we came home and opened a box of matzah. Jacob just couldn't wait 'till Saturday and my dad was sick of his whining so he bought a box to have today. What we were picking up from Chabad was stuff for passover that we can't get here that a guy from Chicago brought. My mom sen a whole long list to this guy and he brought everything except pomegranate paste, which obviously is almost impossible to find considering we live in China.So when we came hoe, I had a matzah and sliced turkey sandwich for lunch. It was a good taste, that I felt a little lite-headed. It was like a dream. I now can't wait untill next week either! In a little while, me and Jacob have roller-blading class but since there was barely anything to do, I decided to write to yall there who are reading. I was gonna invite a friend over but it was too late by the time I was done with lunch.

Tokyo Friendship!

Dear Journal, March 22, 2008
There has been soo much going on that there was no time to write. I was still thinking about what to write for when I did get a chance to write. Here is one thing that I've been planing to do this coming week. Here it goes...

#1. Tokyo, here we come!

Next week is our spring vacation. We are going to Tokyo and the best part is.... that we're going to see the Red Sox play in the Tokyo Dome!! We are living to go on this coming Sunday, March 23, Easter. A coincidence, is that my best friend Caroline (I'll put a picture on the blog), is going too!!! She is going to the same game as us (except we have tickets to both games). She, her dad and her mom are going to Tokyo. I was soo excited when I heard that Caroline was going that I said, "What the heck. Even if the Red Sox lose, I'll be with my friend! And, I'll be in heaven with soo much sushi!!"

Visitors of Shanghai and Xian

Dear Journal,

Last week I was in Boston and I saw my friends and family. The day before we came back to China, my friend Ayden Mallory left for Xian, China. Her father is going with a bunch of students to Xian to study and learn the culture of China. He took his family with him on the trip, that's why Ayden is there. They are there for 4months, or until May. I am hoping to see her in March and April, and in April they are going to come and spend Passover with us.

This week I found out that my grandma and grandpa/ Bubbie and Zaydie are coming to see us at the end of April; to be exact April 26th. This morning, me and my mom were writing a list of things to do with my Bubbie and Zaydie.

Massage! Here I come!

Dear Journal,
I said I would be back soon and here I am! I am waiting for a massage that I actually just had 5 minutes ago. So, I'm not really waiting but I really did have a massage about 5 minutes ago. We got shoulder and back massage and they put very relaxing music on to make us fall asleep. I was soo relaxed, exactly how you're supposed to act to a thing like this. Not much else has happened during the 24 hours that I wasn't on my blog. I went to school, heard there is no school tomorrow, came home on the bus, relaxed, had dinner, went for a massage, and look at where I'm standing right now (well you can't exactly see where I was sitting/standing, but you get the concept)! I am getting ready to pack. my packing day will probably be tomorrow 'cause I have no school, Friday afternoon, and Saturday evening. You know something kind-of funny, we have been here nearly 7 months, and I still don't have the sound to my computer in my room.

So many things to chat about all over the world! Especially in Boston, China!

Dear Journal,

We, as in my whole family, have been so busy with vacation, the holidays, and school, I have forgotten about my journal and how you guys love it! So i wanted to give a little (not) info on whats happening' here in china. First of all I am great and there is nothing t worry about 'cause me and my blog are staying' here FOREVER!! Plus, we are in the hands of my wicked-awesome parents!
Anyways, getting back to me and all that "stuff", I am about to share a little magic with y'all people out there reading this blog of mine (read this sentence in a Texas accent) (ye ha!):

#1. Awesome Vacation!

Last week we came back from freezing cold Beijing and more freezing cold Harbin. Beijing was more of a historical kind-of place and Harbin was more like a winter wonderland. In Beijing we went to the Temple of Heaven, The Great Wall (which wasn't very hard to climb because of the cable-cars), and many more places that I can't think of! Harbin although was freezing, was amazing! Winter wonderland (as in Harbin)had not statues but building's and sculptures made out of... actually, I am going to put a picture of what it's made out of n my blog later and whoever answers in a email first, may get a prize in February like I promised Amy Wald who emailed me first on the other entry when I did this with my dads gift. Anyways, everything was awesome.

#2. Tooth Loosing Maniac!

As some of you know, my brother got his teeth late when he was a toddler. So he is just starting to loose them. He actually lost his 2nd one during vacation on the plane from Beijing to Harbin. My moms like, "Do you want it out in Beijing or Harbin?" And Jacob said to yank it now... and that's just what she did. Yank! The tooth was out and we were just going up into the air (and wave em like you just don't care!).

#3. Almost with y'all in the USA!!

It is Sunday, January 27th, 2008 and I am getting ready for my plane ride to Boston in exactly one week! We, as in me, mom, dad, and brother Jacob, are so excited to be on our way. We can't wait to see y'all next week. And actually, we will be in Boston for the Super Bowl! You know what I like about the Super Bowl, the cool sweat shirts they sell at Decathlon. They have Decathlon here but they don't sell the sweat shirts because it's not a big event in China, you know. We are bringing many presents with us to fill a whole suitcase (not exactly). We are bringing fancy chopsticks and jewelry and jade turtles. They are really awesome; I hope all y'all will like the presents we bring to all of you.

#4. Chinese New Year

This week we are coming to Boston for our Chinese New Year vacation. It is like our new year but a little bit more red-ish and fancy. Like dragons and door posts and things like that. Jacob will be talking about that in his little presentation to the second grade classes. He is going to read a book about it. I will be bringing in a slide show that me and my family downloaded to watch on a disk. It is a really cool video about what we are doing when we travel and what I do in Hebrew school. Jacob hates, well, not hates, but doesn't like going to Hebrew school. It's not his thing, you know. Or do you not know; at all??
